Kantar Media Deutschland GmbH, formally PressWatch GmbH (until January 2010), was founded in Hamburg in 1999.

Since 2007, the company has been part of the TNS Group, which was taken over by the WPP Group in 2008.




In the course of a corporate-wide restructuring programme, all companies in the media intelligence sector were grouped together under the name Kantar Media in 2010. Kantar Media has around 6,000 employees in 48 countries and is the world’s No.1 in news and advertising monitoring.

Kantar Media Deutschland monitors and analyses all standard media formats such as print, web, TV, radio and social media worldwide and 24 hours a day according to the individual search profiles of our national and international clients, who include many global leaders and DAX 30 companies. The use of state-of-the-art search technologies combined with the expertise of our qualified editors guarantee accurate, unerring and real-time monitoring of all media profiles. The Gateway software developed by Kantar Media enables simple management and monitoring of press contents plus prompt generation of press reviews. Since 2009, we also have another meta search technology for a full survey of all social media sources up and running, again a technology developed by Kantar Media itself. Needs-orientated media impact analyses help clients optimising their communication strategies and controlling their budgets. These can also be designed as integrated media analyses thanks to access to the Group’s worldwide market and opinion research data.

Worldwide Network

Kantar Media is a member of a unique international network of media monitoring agencies and can rely on the support of committed partners in almost all countries of the world, partners who are market leaders in their respective countries. Thus, clients of Kantar Media get the chance to extend their media monitoring by 120,000 print publications, over 20,000 internet publications and hundreds of TV and radio stations.

Kantar Media has an internationally orientated department for Editorial Services at its disposal which is unique in the branch. Upon request, our multi-lingual team consolidates all international clippings into summaries or abstracts – in German, English or your preferred language.
